Tijdens dit forum gaan studenten van het Institute for European Urban Studies en internationale projectpartners met elkaar in discussie en worden hedendaagse stedenbouwkundige projecten en onderzoekstopics gepresenteerd. Julia Müller, studente van de Bauhaus Uni die vorig jaar bij BUUR stage heeft gedaan, zal er ons project voor het centrum en een woongebied in Boechout presenteren op 9 feburari, de dag daarop houdt ook Johan Van Reeth een lezing over recente projecten van BUUR. Especially the new high-rise buildings of this project are contested by the surrounding inhabitants. BUUR was mentioned in the program too, being the office that has been appointed to improve the relation between the new project and the existing quarters. By doing so, we attempt to bring the developer and the inhabitants more together. Ook BUUR kwam aan bod, als studiebureau dat voor de tweede en derde fase aangesteld is om de relatie tussen de bestaande woonwijk en het nieuwe project te verbeteren. Zo trachten we de kloof tussen bewoners en ontwikkelaars zo goed mogelijk te overbruggen. As one of the thirteen offices that were selected for this competition, BUUR developed a masterplan for the first development phase of a new city quarter at the western border of the city of Munich. For the area of 45 ha an ambitious neighborhood was designed with 2500 new housing units, shops, schools and a cultural-religious centre. In their report the jury praised the intelligent spatial analysis, the qualitative connection towards the existing neighborhoods, the well-structured traffic system and the attention for a phased development of the area. The competition was won by the Dutch office West 8. Als één van de dertien voor de wedstrijd geselecteerde bureaus ontwikkelde BUUR een masterplan voor de eerste ontwikkelingsfase van een nieuw stadsdeel aan de westelijke rand van de stad München. Voor het gebied van 45 ha werd een nieuwe wijk ontworpen met 2500 nieuwe woningen, winkels, scholen en een cultureel-religieus centrum. In het wedstrijdrapport looft de jury de intelligente ruimtelijke analyse, de kwalitatieve verknoping met het bestaande woonweefsel, de goed leesbare ontsluitingsstructuur en de aandacht voor een stapsgewijze ontwikkeling van het gebied. It is a project on a crucial location that recently became available for development and that will redraw the image of the municipality of Anderlecht and the quarter of Kuregem, so the big interest is understandable. Bezoekers konden ritjes maken met een stoomtrein en zelfs de stationsoverkapping was voor de gelegenheid glanzend gepoetst. Dankzij dit project heeft het station van Leuven opnieuw een tweede voorkant gekregen en Kessel-Lo een levendige mix van winkels, appartementen, kantoren en hotels.
